Module 6: Making a May Day garland
- Here children can investigate making a ‘May Day Garland’ for the class.
- The idea is for children to prepare something traditional, exploring any symbolic meaning.
- On the basis of this example, the children could think of other traditional rites and rituals associated with plants, or of objects made of plants, and think about their symbolism.
- Many of the plants surrounding us play an important role in our everyday life and by showing how plants are part of our culture, children are more likely to appreciate the need to preserve them for the future.
